How important is the run-up in fast bowling?
More than most bowlers think. amp weights run-up speed and acceleration into the crease at 8 points of 100 — heavier than any single thing in the delivery stride — because approach speed at back foot contact is a stronger predictor of release speed than front knee angle is. The run-up should build, not flatten out or decelerate before the crease. Two criteria, 12 points.

You should be tall, and you should not lose the speed you built. Back foot contact height and momentum preservation is worth 11 points of 100 on its own — the heaviest single criterion in the pace model. The back foot should land roughly parallel to the crease, heel-first or heel-to-toe. Two criteria, 16 points.

The bound is the jump from back foot to front foot that sets up the delivery stride. amp reads its height and length, and classifies the action type — side-on, front-on or midway — because what counts as correct downstream depends on which action you actually have. Two criteria, 8 points of 100.

In a position that lets you brace against it. Front foot landing position, a braced front knee, and trunk flexion through delivery are what convert the momentum of the run-up into ball speed — a front leg that collapses bleeds it away. Three criteria, 16 points of 100.

High at release, delayed rather than rushed, fast through the crease, and driven by the non-bowling arm as much as the bowling one. Delayed bowling arm swing alone is worth 7 points of 100: bringing the arm through too early is one of the most common ways a fast bowler loses pace they have already generated. Stay behind the ball, and snap late. Wrist snap timing and wrist position each carry 6 points of 100 — together more than the whole follow-through. Consistent release height and a stable seam at release are what turn a fast ball into a repeatable one. Four criteria, 18 points.

More than it does in batting. Unlike the batting follow-through, which amp treats as purely diagnostic, the bowling follow-through carries 10 points of 100 — direction, head position and landing foot control all matter, both for what they say about the action and for how the load is absorbed.
