The technique guide

What a coach is actually looking at.

These are the 49 criteria amp scores an adult action against — 29 for a batter facing pace, 20 for a pace bowler. Each carries a weight, and the weights total 100.

We have published the rubric rather than described it, because the useful part is the detail: not “keep your head still” but what still, manageable and not-still each look like on video. You can read your own action against these without any software at all. amp's job is doing it consistently, frame by frame, every week.

Batting against pace

Bowling against pace

The rubric changes with age and with what you are facing. The pages above are the adult model against pace; facing spin swaps in playing-with-the-spin and sweep criteria, and the younger tiers are deliberately simpler — a Foundation batter is scored on 7 things, because at that age the useful questions are whether the feet move and whether the head is over the ball.
