Batting · Front-Foot Deliveries Only

How should you play off the front foot?

Decisively, to the pitch of the ball, with the head and weight arriving over the front knee at contact. Step length matters more than most players think: too short and there is no base to work against, too far across and the bat has to come around the pad. amp scores these only on deliveries you actually played forward to. Three criteria, 12 points of 100.

What each band looks like

5 of 100 · filmed side-on
Looks right
Moves early, commits fully, foot to the pitch of the ball.
Can manage
Slightly late or a half-committed movement.
Needs attention
Very late, or the foot barely moves. Reacting to pace rather than reading it.

4 of 100 · filmed side or front-on
Looks right
Lands in line with or toward the ball, a full step taken.
Can manage
Slightly across or a short step.
Needs attention
Foot crossing well past the ball's line, or a step so short there is no base to work against.

Head and Weight Over the Front Knee at Contact

3 of 100 · filmed side-on
Looks right
Head and weight clearly forward over the knee at contact.
Can manage
Slightly upright or weight neutral.
Needs attention
Falling away, weight staying back, head pulling away from the ball.

These are the criteria as amp scores them. Reading your own footage against them is free and always will be — what amp adds is doing it the same way every week, so the change between one session and the next is a number rather than an impression. Apply for the pilot.
